One of This Single Mom's Jobs is Being Queen of Country

 By Jami Morain

Like most kids, growing up I went to a daycare. I vividly remember watching Reba on the TV and loving it. Once I grew out of daycare, I would still choose it whenever it was airing. This was my first experience with the Queen of Country.

Eventually, my parents quit paying for cable and that was the end of my watching. Now recently, Reba McEntire is coaching on NBC's The Voice, a show where four musicians build their dream team of artists (who audition to be on the show) and the winner gets a recording contract with their coach's advice. I am only watching this season to see Reba in action and she has not disappointed. As I watch her I am reminded of how wonderful she is.

Biography.com writes about her, "The Grammy-winning artist has recorded more than 30 studio albums, topped the country charts two dozen times, and been named Best Female Vocalist by the Country Music Association four times. By 2011 she earned her spot in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

She's born and raised in Oklahoma with her family being champion steer ropers. Her younger siblings and her started performing as the Singing McEntires at rodeos. Her siblings eventually dropped out, but she stuck to it. This led to her being discovered while singing the National Anthem during the National Rodeo Finals in Oklahoma in 1974.

Being the hardworking, rodeo brat woman she is payed off in the long run. Biography.com quoted Reba, "As a woman, you don’t complain, you work twice as hard, and you do your job. You try to outsmart them, you try to outwork them and get there first. You help out, you volunteer, you’re at the front of the line. That’s what I learned from working on the cattle range, and it helped me in the music business."

Reba claims the female country's audience's lives and troubles are her priority. She also valued quality concerts, fighting for higher production values, creating intricate stages with high-tech screens for concerts, according to Country Music Hall of Fame

Her talents go beyond music showing her range. She founded Starstruck Entertainment, had her own TV show, stars in films, performed on Broadway and she is author to a few books.

The Voice can be streamed on Peacock

Her show is streaming on HULU
