Taylor Swift Will 'Never Go Out of Style'

 By Jami Morain

She was Billboard's Woman of the year in 2011, the youngest artist in history to win Album of the Year at the Grammys and Billboard's Woman of the Decade in 2019. She is Taylor Allison Swift.

That's just to name a few of her accomplishments, Swift also had a genre shift (country to pop) and she's the top selling digital artist. Her biggest trademark is writing songs about ex-boyfriends, red lipstick and her lucky number 13.

When she was 16 she released her debut album and, according to IMDB, "Our Song" made her "the youngest solo writer/singer of a number one country song." Fearless followed in 2008 with "Love Story" becoming the second best selling country song of all time. By 2009 she was the youngest ever to be named Entertainer of the Year by Country Music Association (CMA).

Her third album, Speak Now, was released in 2010 with all of the songs written by her. Red followed in 2012 with "We Are Never Getting Back Together" as her first number one on Billboards Hot 100 Chart. Her fifth album, 1989, was her official transition to pop music in 2014.

Three years later she released Reputation, then Lover, Folkmore and Evermore

In 2014 she removed her discography from streaming services, but after negotiating better terms for royalties she returned the music. Five years later she was battling with ownership over her master recordings and this brought awareness to artists' rights and advocation for better terms.

Next year Swift announced that she wanted control of her music and was going to rerecord her albums instead of buying back the rights. Fearless (Taylor's Version) was released in 2021 with a new sound and some songs from her vault. Fans went crazy.

Red (TV) came with a 10 minute
version
of "All Too Well."

My freshman year of college Red (Taylor's Version) was released. My entire dorm floor sat in a circle in the common room waiting for the album to drop. Once it did, we sat around crying. Everyone had their own reasons for crying- such a strong love for Swift and her music, relationship issues or being able to enjoy music from when we were growing up.

I make it a point to listen to Taylor's Version's when streaming her music because those are the songs that she controls.

Swifties are the most die-hard fans I have ever seen. I don't consider myself a Swiftie because as much as I enjoy her music and support her, I am not as passionate as them.

Taylor Swift is the type of artist that pushes back, she is someone little girls can idolize, she earned an honorary doctorate degree in Fine Arts from NYU and she always stays true to herself.
